What Can You Expect in Therapy with Me?
Philosophy & Approach
Therapy is something we do together.
While I bring training, experience, and perspective, you're the expert on your own life. My role is to ask thoughtful questions, offer insights, and help you make sense of what's happening - serving as a guide rather than someone with all the answers. Your role is simply to show up as honestly as you can. Together, we'll shape our work around your experiences, values, culture, strengths, and the goals that matter most to you.
You can expect me to bring curiosity, compassion, and a gently honest approach. I'll help you notice patterns you may not yet see and, when it feels helpful, I'll challenge you with kindness and care. I also hope you'll tell me if I misunderstand you, if something I say doesn't quite fit, or if we're heading in a direction that doesn't feel right. Those conversations are an important part of building the trust and direction that meaningful therapy depends on.
I don't shy away from difficult conversations. If you're carrying grief, trauma, shame, fear, or something you've never felt safe saying out loud, we'll make space for it together. My hope is that you'll experience therapy as a place where every part of your story is welcome, and where you don't have to carry it by yourself anymore.
Therapy doesn't have to feel heavy all the time, though. Alongside the hard work, we'll look for moments of relief, laughter, and hope. We'll celebrate progress - even the small wins - because meaningful change is often built one step at a time. Healing isn't only about working through pain; it's also about creating more room for joy, connection, and the life you want to build.
Because no two people are the same, I take an integrative approach to therapy. I draw from Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Somatic, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), all through a trauma-informed and multicultural lens. Some days we'll focus on practical tools to help you navigate what's happening right now. Other days we'll explore the experiences and patterns that continue to shape your life. Together, we'll find an approach that feels authentic to you and supports the kind of change you're hoping to create.
We might work well together if you’re looking for support with:
Making sense of grief, loss, and major life changes as an individual or as a couple
Fertility struggles, pregnancy loss, infant and child loss
Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or disconnected from yourself
Building self-compassion and a deeper understanding of who you are
Strengthening relationships and creating healthier patterns of connection
Pre-marital or pre-commitment counseling
Supporting your child or teen through emotional challenges, transitions, and growth
Healing from painful experiences and understanding how they continue to impact your life
